Enchiladas with Fiber Ingredients: ½ cup red chili powder 1 -2 TBS Konsyl Fiber Supplement 1 tsp cilantro 1 tsp garlic salt Olive oil 12 whole wheat tortillas 2 cups low fat sharp shedder cheese (grated) 2 cups low fat mild shedder (grated) 2 cups mozzarella cheese (grated) Take the chili powder, Konsyl, cilantro, garlic salt and mix together in a deep pie dish. Refrigerate for up to 2 hours or even overnight. Using a large bowl , mix all of the cheeses together. Warm the oil in a large frying pan. Take the tortilla and one at a time dip a tortilla in the chili sauce and lay in the oil for a few seconds, t urn it around to the other side and cook for a few seconds. When you are done you should have a stack of tortillas on a plate ready for your cheese. On a piece of saran wrap put one tortilla and fill with the cheese mixture and wrap the tortilla just like a burrito then wrap the tortilla in the saran wrap when you are done. Complete the other 11 tortillas the same way. When you get ready to eat unwrap your enchilada and put in a steamer until cheese is melted inside serve with beans and rice.

Italian Style Hamburgers Ingredients: 1 lb ground beef 4 rounded tsp Konsyl Fiber Supplement 1 finely chopped small onion 1 tsp. Italian seasoning 4 slices Mozzarella cheese 4 hamburger buns Knead together ground beef, KONSYL, onion and Italian seasoning. Shape into 4 patties and place on grill. Oatmeal Cookies Ingredients: 1 ¼ cups prune puree 1 cup Splenda 1 cup Brown Splenda Blend 3 small eggs ¾ cup applesauce 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 3 tablespoons rum 2 tablespoons molasses 1 cup cranberries 2 cups whole wheat flour ¼ cup ground flax seed ¼ cup wheat bran ¼ cup Original Konsyl or Konsyl Easy Mix Fiber Supplement 1 teaspoon soda 1 teaspoon baking powder 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon salt 3 cups uncooked oats Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Replace butter and oil with prunes. Place prunes in a food processor until pureed and smooth. Soak cranberries, in 3 tablespoons of rum, bring to boil and let stand overnight. Combine flour, salt, baking powder, soda, cinnamon, flax seed and wheat bran. Set aside. Cream together prunes, white sugar, and brown sugar. Beat in eggs one at a time; then add applesauce, molasses, liquid from cranberries and vanilla. Mix in flour mixture, if dough is too soft then add more whole wheat flour to bring dough up to the correct texture. Chill dough. Use medium cookie scoop. Flatten with your fingers; cookies will not spread while baking. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 3 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Total Cookies: 32 with 150 calories each

However, a number of metabolic disorders in which an individual's metabolism of biotin is abnormal exist.
  

Biotin Uses:

• Fragile fingernails - Between 5000mcg and 7500mcg of biotin per day will strengthen fingernails that break, chip, or flake easily. Effects will not be noticeable for several months, depending on rate of growth. Toenails will increase in strength too, and hair will be thicker and stronger.
  
• Hair problems - The signs and symptoms of biotin deficiency include hair loss that progresses in severity to include loss of eyelashes and eyebrows in severely deficient subjects. Biotin supplements are available in every pharmacy; begin with 5000mcg per day, as with fingernails, and be prepared to wait several months to begin seeing results. (Some shampoos are available that contain biotin, but it is doubtful whether they would have any useful effect, as biotin is not absorbed well through the skin.)
  
• Diabetes - Diabetics may also benefit from biotin supplementation. In both insulin-dependent and non-insulin-dependent diabetics, supplementation with biotin can improve blood sugar control and help lower fasting blood glucose levels, in some studies the reduction in fasting glucose exceeded 50 percent. Biotin can also play a role in preventing the neuropathy often associated with diabetes, reducing both the numbness and tingling associated with poor glucose control.
  
• Cradle cap (seborrheic dermatitis) - Children with a rare inherited metabolic disorder called phenylketonuria (PKU; in which one is unable to break down the amino acid phenylalanine) often develop skin conditions such as eczema and seborrheic dermatitis in areas of the body other than the scalp. The scaly skin changes that occur in people with PKU may be related to poor ability to use biotin. Increasing dietary biotin has been known to improve seborrheic dermatitis in these cases.
  

Bottom Line: Biotin can strengthen fingernails, but its biggest impact may be in controlling diabetes.

On another note:

My wife and I just go back from 10 days in Calabria. The weather was not so good, but the lack of tourists was a bonus, although many restaurants were closed as a result. Calabria is the area of Italy that generally takes up just two or three pages of a 500 page guide. The coasts are well populated in the summer with locals and other Europeans who have driven down as far as they can before parking their camper or tent near the beach.

Every old town seems to have a Norman castle, all but a few of which are being made safe for tourists and, therefore, closed.
